Magnomer was issued its first patent on its core magnetizable coatings technology by the USPTO. Covering a wide range of printing technologies, the patent provides coverage for Magnomer proprietary food contact ferromagnetic coatings composition. Additionally, labels, films and objects imprinted with Magnomer’s coatings are also covered under the issued patent.
A global IP strategy
“The patent recognizes the novel and innovative approach Magnomer takes to enchance recyclability for plastics packaging” said Ravish Majithia, Magnomer’s Co-founder & CEO. Ravish added that” “The US patent is first of many with a truly global IP strategy”. Indeed Magnomer was also issued an additional patent, CN 111148574, by China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA).
Magnomer is a materials startup introducing magnetizable coatings technology (Magmark) to impart sortability features for recyclable packaging. Magmark coatings are printed using industry standard techniques as a transparent varnish to impart magnetization on flexible films such as bottle labels. This complements widely used magnetic separators in plastics recycling to economically sort packaging. Magnomer’s coatings technology is a packaging design tool used to resolve long standing sorting issues in package recycling such as label contamination.
